Foster a Litter of Puppies or Kittens
Have you thought of what you would like to do for fun this
spring and summer? How about opening your home to a litter
of kittens or puppies? The Harbor Humane Society always is
asked to take in more animals than we have kennel space.
We need loving people to give these families a chance by
providing a space for the young ones to grow.
If you think
you might want to help out with a litter this season please
give Lindsey a call at the shelter 616.399.2119 ext. 16 and
ask about the foster care program or email her at volunteers@harborhumane.org.
Overview
We’re always in need of volunteers who are willing
to share their homes and their lives on a temporary basis
with animals who need special care. Whether the situation
involves kittens or puppies that need a stable atmosphere
in which to grow, or a sick cat or dog that needs a quiet
place to recover and receive proper medications, we’re
never short of animals in need of love and attention.
This job requires a huge amount of time and emotional sacrifice,
as it’s often difficult to bring animals back to the
shelter once they’ve been a part of your family. Foster
caregivers are a special group of volunteers and our animals
are truly blessed by the love and care they receive from these
people. Foster volunteers are commonly subject to a home visit
by our volunteer coordinator.
Cats & Kittens
We have several cats and kittens that are in need of foster
homes until they are feeling well enough to be adopted. Please
consider opening your home to a foster pet. Harbor Humane
Society will provide vet care and supplies for the animal
while in your care. Your willingness to help can assist to
socialize these animals and give them a chance to mend so
we at Harbor Humane Society can find good permanent homes
for these pets.
If you are interested or have any questions please call Harbor
Humane Society at 616.399.2119 ext. 16 and talk with Lindsey
or email her at volunteers@harborhumane.org.
