Fireworks — Hazardous to Your Pets

Many animals are terrified of the booming and crackling of fireworks and the sudden bursts of light in the sky. They may panic and run out open doors or jump fences or, if left home alone, may break through windows or screens in their fright. Once inside, they run and keep running in their attempts to get away from the bedlam. Before long, they are hopelessly lost, often miles from home, confused and exhausted.

Please make sure your dogs and cats are wearing collars with identification tags. Keep doors and windows closed. If you have a crate or carrier, confine your pets or secure them in the quietest location in the house. If you know your pet is frightened of loud noises, you may want to consult your veterinarian about the use of tranquilizers.

Please take all necessary precautions. Don’t let your pet become a statistic.
